Les works with people who are interested in development – personal development, organizational development, and community development. Empowerment is a term that Les says is overused: but it describes what he does.

I have spent most of my life working with animals and people as a rancher and as a conflict management specialist. I have learned that the key to success in working with people and with animals is to treat them both with respect.'

Les's work speaks for itself:

In Alix, Alberta, Les helped a community to deal with conflict and to work together towards common goals.

His feature article for ‘Edmontonians Magazine” handicapping the contenders for the leadership of the Alberta P.C. party was characterized as “brilliant” by other Edmonton media outlets.

Les Brost is a catalyst. In chemical terms a catalyst facilitates a process – a chemical reaction – increasing the speed of the reaction and allowing it to take place at a lower temperature. In some cases, the reaction will not take place without the catalyst.

This metaphor explains what Les does in much of his consulting work. He helps others to make changes and to solve problems.

In a chemical reaction the catalyst is not changed. However, human catalysts such as Les do change: they become wiser and more experienced as they learn from each problem they solve. Information becomes knowledge and knowledge becomes wisdom.

Les has worked with the senior and mid-level leadership of Alberta businesses to build communication, understanding and trust within their organizations.

He coached a young health-care professional to develop the focus, goals and personal communication skills necessary to reach her professional and personal goals.

Les Brost led the “Agrivantage Team” - a group appointed by the Minister of Agriculture that developed a blueprint for the future of Alberta’s agriculture industry.

He facilitated the Strategic Planning process for a large rural Alberta county.

Les presents workshops on conflict management to Alberta’s corporate and NGO sectors.
